Bio: James Barsimantov, Ph.D. is a principal and founding member of EcoShift Consulting. He received a B.A. from UC Berkeley and a Ph.D. in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a focus on environmental economics, natural resource management, and geographic information systems (GIS). His expertise in greenhouse gas emissions inventories, climate action planning, and offsets development expanded during his work for the UC Santa Cruz Chancellor’s Council on Climate Change. James has worked to plan and implement carbon emissions reductions strategies through alternative energy development, transportation, and greening projects. He has also worked on social policy research at the Urban Institute in Washington D.C., consulted for remote sensing projects in Mexico and China, and was a Peace Corps volunteer in Panama.
