Bio

The principal at Strohm Sustainability Consulting, Dr. Strohm works with clients to establish their sustainability baseline and assessment, to design and deliver sustainability education and training, and to support sustainability coordinators so they can deliver superior performance. Her past and current clients include Driscoll's Strawberries, West Marine Company, Hayward Lumber Company, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Hartnell Community College, and others. She presented educational talks for CTB McGraw-Hill, Pebble Beach, the Community Foundation of Monterey County, and many more.

A former professor at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, Dr. Strohm designed and established the master's degree program in International Environmental Policy, and the double degree connecting that program with the business MBA. Known as an excellent teacher, she offered courses in sustainable development and agriculture, international environmental law, and comparative environmental policy. Before earning her Ph.D. at the Fletcher School at Tufts University in Boston in 1991, she worked in watershed management and soil conservation in Santa Cruz County.

Laura Strohm founded The Sustainability Academy, based in Monterey, CA in 2005, and served as the Executive Director through 2009. The Academy is a think-do-&-teach tank committed to accelerating the practice of sustainability in the Central Coast Region. She conducted a course called "Field Study in Sustainability" annually which focused on local sustainability assessments for organizations including the Clinica de Salud del Valle de Salinas, the Unity Church, and the Monterey Institute of International Studies.
